Selling point: Crepes Suzette station A buffet set-up might make it sound as though this Valentine’s dinner is going to be a more casual affair, but does broiled Rockefeller and Kilpatrick oysters, or braised beef cheek Wellington, sound casual to you? These tasty sounding dishes are being served alongside a roasted orange-scented duck, fresh sushi and Japanese tempura, and a chocolate fountain with rose marshmallows and heart berry jelly. Selling point: Clarita de Quiroz Aside from a romantically lit, sophisticated setting and delicious Japanese fusion menu, this notable Seef restaurant also has the multi-award winning, classically trained pianist, vocalist and model Clarita de Quiroz performing live (she also happened to perform at the Time Out Bahrain Restaurant Awards 2015). She’ll be on the Bushido staircase stage for a suitably seducative serenade you and your loved one can enjoy alongside a bottle of bubbly (and food of course). Selling point: Michelin stars Celebrated Michelin-starred chef Wolfgang Puck launched the Bahrain branch of his world-renowned steakhouse in March last year. As this is the restaurant’s first ever Valentine’s Day on the island, the kitchen team are pulling out all the stops with a five-course menu featuring Beluga caviar from the Caspian Sea, a duo of Australian Wagyu and USDA prime beef, and a lavish dessert of sweet, fresh raspberries. Selling point: An Italian soprano and tenor Valentine’s Day happens to coincide with Fiamma’s ten-day cultural and gastronomic festival, which means your authentic Italian dining experience will be complemented by a performance by soprano and tenor, Vincenzo Sanso and Carla Mazzarella, who have flown in especially from Italy for the occasion. Selling point: Live Cuban music The spirit of Havana is alive at the Mövenpick this month, as they’re hosting a Valentine’s Day affair with a difference. Selling point: A live saxophonist A sophisticated time is to be had at The Ritz-Carlton’s Mediterranean inspired all-day dining spot, which offers a lovely vibrant atmosphere and beautiful views of the landscaped gardens. Selling point: Views of the Arabian Gulf Not only is La Mer Time Out Bahrain’s Best Seafood Restaurant of 2015, it also happens to have clinched the title for Best Romantic as well. Contemporary European interiors give way to stunning sea views from its perch on a manmade island jutting off the shore. Selling point: Prime meats Chef David Bell has prepared a special four-course menu at this modern steakhouse, which has been decked out for the romantic occasion. Selling point: Views of the greens The four-course menu at international Links restaurant, which offers stunning views over the golf club’s greens, includes dishes like the trio of oysters starter, maple glazed Scottish salmon and braised US beef brisket for mains, and, rounding it all off, the dark chocolate mascarpone and hazelnut mousse topped with a raspberry glaze and strawberry meringue. Selling point: The handcrafted beverage served in a crystal carafe Modern steakhouse Plums is one of Bahrain’s most unique venues thanks to Chef Yann Lejard and his creative dishes. It’s not unusual for dry ice, liquid nitrogen and blow torches to make an appearance; the dining experience here is exactly that – an experience. This Valentine’s Day there’s a show-stopping six-course set menu on offer. A handcrafted mixed beverage is also being served in a crystal carafe for BD12++ per couple – you just need to choose two ingredients and a customised concoction will be created. Selling point: Outstanding Italian vibes The lovely upscale venue and stunning island views from the terrace reflects nothing of the authentic Italian dining experience you’re about to have (which is why this is our Best Italian Restaurant of 2015). You’re greeted in Italian, served by Italians and the four-course set menu has been created by Italians. The dishes are simple but full of complex flavours and the selection of grape is extensive. Selling point: The reasonable price This restaurant masquerades as an all-day hotel dining place but its food tells another story. The chefs cook up classic Asian cuisine with a modern twist and this Valentine’s Day there’s a romantic set dinner menu available for a very reasonable price alongside two glasses of bubbly. Selling point: Authentic cuisines from Asia Both of the award-winning venues at Sheraton Bahrain Hotel are putting on quite the Valentine’s show. Soie, the romantic Chinese spot, boasts authentic dishes and an intimate atmosphere while Golestan, the Iranian restaurant, is as traditional as they come. Both outlets have special set menus to enjoy, as well as roses and heart-shaped cookies for the ladies. Also take advantage of the 20 percent discount on beverages when you opt for the set menu (à la carte is also available). Selling point: Complete privacy Rose petals, candles, a private butler and a lavish feast – this is what Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa promises when you book a private tent on the beach and enjoy your Valentine’s Day dinner under the stars. Selling point: Its casual chicness Thai Lounge might formally be a poolside bar but anyone who’s been there will tell you the food is delicious. So we’re glad to hear they’re getting in on the Valentine’s Day action with a five-course set menu of authentic Thai dishes and lip-smacking sushi, while you enjoy the more casual atmosphere with your date. Selling point: Down-to-earth vibes The casual British pub might not be your first option for a romantic Valentine’s Day meal but they are putting on a candlelight dinner for couples this year with a set menu and specially concocted Valentine’s inspired beverages. Selling point: The vibrant Polynesian atmosphere Veal tenderloin medallions, oven-smoked duck breast and raspberry milles-feuille are just a few of the dishes that await on Trader Vic’s Valentine’s Day menu.
