Our editor’s pick of island happenings throughout the rest of February
Thursday February 13 sees the return of Art Market to the Bab Al Bahrain. It’s not to be confused with the Bab Market, which is the last weekend of the month. This one is the second weekend of the month, running all year, and showcasing the creations of the island’s next generation of artistic minds. You’ll find everything from paintings to handicrafts, furniture, woodwork, photographs and loads more. It’s a great place to find something really unusual for the home or as a gift.
Timings are Thursday Feb 13, 5pm-9pm; Friday Feb 14, 10am-noon; and Saturday Feb 15, 10am-1pm and 3pm-9pm.
Launched this week and running till February 28 is the Pearl Art exhibition from Areej Rajad. I have to confess, I haven’t seen this one yet but I’m told there are some stunning pieces so I’ll be heading down to Naqsh Gallery at Al A’ali Shopping Complex to take a look. Running until February 27 at Al Riwaq Art Space is Everitte Barbee's calligraphy exhibition ‘Eternity, For Now’. This one I have seen and it’s really worth a look. For me, I always try to get along to Al Riwaq fairly regularly as they try to promote up and coming artists and there is always something interesting to see both at the gallery and in the surrounding streets. Monday February 17 Bahrain Writers’ Circle has the third of this month’s get togethers which will be a creative writing workshop held at Coral Bay. Check out their website for more details.
