Bahrain Summer Festival launch at Nakhool Garden Thu 30 to August 31
Our favourite summer mascots – Nakhool and Nakhoola – return to their garden, this time near Sitra Mall, to accompany kids on a month-long journey of fun-filled discovery. The tent provides a family-friendly atmosphere through a wide range of activities, creative workshops and competitions held over the duration of the festival. A Tribute to Umm Kulthum Thu 30 To kick off the month-long Bahrain Summer Festival, this tribute to Egyptian singing legend Umm Kulthum is taking place at the Bahrain National Theatre from 8pm. Travel back in time to the days of classic Arabic music with the renowned Cairo Opera House orchestra and a group of notable female vocalists as they pay homage to one of the most celebrated figures in the history of the Arab World. Running workshop Thu 30
A running technique workshop, designed for runners who want to improve their efficiency and performance, is being held at the Bahrain National Stadium from 6pm to 8.30pm, and run by triathlon national coach Vicent Beltran. It’s BD10 to register. Call 3430 4869.

LalaLuna performance Sat 1-Mon 3 This theatrical performance, which comes as part of the Bahrain Summer Festival, hails from Australia and the US and is a surreal and whimsical tale of the moon’s caretaker as he struggles to re-light the moon which just went out. Created by playwright-actor Wolfe Bowart, this family-friendly journey combines circus, theatre and film with poetry and comedy. It’ll take place at the Cultural Hall near Bahrain National Museum and performance timings on each day is 4.30pm and 7.30pm. It’s open to anyone aged six and above.
