Gallery owner Ammar Ali tells us all about his favourite things
Time Out Bahrain staff
My favourite space I would have to say Casa Dell’Arte, the gallery I set up in January this year, because art’s not just a job but a passion I’ve had for a long time. When you start an art gallery, you have the freedom to make your own choices and express your own creative spirit, which has been an exciting, prestigious and rewarding experience.
My favourite restaurant La Ventana Café in Adliya has a very nice, casual atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing, healthy food. I also love the art displayed on its walls. My favourite shop I feel like a kid in Disneyland at Virgin Megastore. I can spend hours browsing all of the CDs, DVDs, books, magazines and electronics.
Secret gem I think Jaradah island, 22 km from the mainland, is paradise on earth. What makes the island special to me is that you can have an isolated beach all to yourself and enjoy the sun, sea and sand with not a single building in sight. Ammar is the owner of Casa Dell’Arte gallery in Suqaia, showcasing emerging Bahraini and international artists.
