Trader Vic's
Good venue, bad service at Polynesian-themed bar Discuss this article

This one is a bit difficult because it should be a really good venue, we’ve tried Trader’s in various other places and never been disappointed.
Love the Polynesian theme, really like the venue, food is usually good and the drink concoctions are legendary.
So where’s the problem?
The service. It’s not just bad, it’s actually not much short of insulting. We’ve been there on nights with a large group and waited more than 30 minutes for a drink and even longer for an order of bar food.
The one time we did get a quick response was when we knocked a hot fat bowl onto a candle and set the table on fire but even we think that’s going a bit far to get some attention from the wait staff!
And, even when the staff do deign to approach the tables, they’re close to being surly which is a real shame as Trader’s has a really nice location and, as I mentioned the food is usually very good. The musicians are also a real find and the atmosphere can be really quite fun.
It’s a very popular place for sundowners but not one we’ll be frequenting again in a hurry.
