Located on the mezzanine floor of the InterCon, Clipper Room seems to be suffering from a dual personality. At one end of the cavernous layout, huge screens display all the big match action, so that sports-mad visitors, locals and expats alike can keep up to date on their team’s prowess, while at the other end of the room, scantily, sequin clad girls enthusiastically and energetically shake it and jump around to hypnotic effect.

Neither ‘entertainment’ options appeal? Then head straight to the well-stocked bar, and when you’re bored of downing daiquiris on an empty stomach, there’s a reasonable, if not overly adventurous, food menu. Meanwhile, homesick Brits will appreciate the pub lunch on Thursdays. While regular promotions such as ladies’ night, karaoke and various happy hours do draw in the crowds, it’s unlikely that Clipper Room will ever become a destination bar. However, as a fairly decent drinking spot it does the job.
