Flamingo Bar
Cigars, cocktails and sophistication in the Movenpick Discuss this article
For cigars and sophistication, the Flamingo Bar – with its long black marbled bar – is where it’s at. The menu boasts a long list of tipples for the discerning drinker to choose from, but cocktails are undoubtedly the specialty. Being in Bahrain and all, try the Manama Sunset – an intoxicating combination of vodka, ruby red grapefruit juice, cranberry, fresh lemon and lemon cordial, topped off with a cheeky dash of grenadine.
Given Flamingo’s location (inside the five-star Mövenpick), prices aren’t extortionate, with cocktails weighing in around the BD2 mark. Elegant platters of nibbles like nuts and olives magically materialise with drinks, but if you’re in need of something more sustaining there’s a reasonable, if not particularly vast, food menu. There’s also a private wine cellar onsite and an enthusiastic Filipino band. The main drawback is that Flamingo is all the way over by the airport, so it’s unlikely that it will ever become a destination bar. But as a pre-flight drinking spot, it’s definitely worth remembering.
