Liz O’Reilly tries the Ramadan package at Dessange in Adliya
Liz O’Reilly gets thoroughly pampered for Ramadan at Dessange in Adliya.
The promise There’s no particular promise on this one just that you’ll leave the salon feeling rejuvenated from top to toe.
Step by step On arrival I was led into one of the bathing rooms where I climbed into possibly the deepest bath I’ve ever come across, lined with tiny lights which glowed different colours through the mineral milk-infused water in the darkened room. The therapist checked the water temperature then turned on a series of jets which administered a kind of aquamassage moving up and down the body’s pressure points from shoulders to calves.
I stayed under for about 30 minutes and then it was onto another treatment room with therapist Nan who set to work treating my desert roughened skin.
After a thorough assessment of my face she used a series of Dermalogica products to cleanse and tone and gently scrub before administering a rejuvenating mask which stayed on for around 10 minutes.
A serum was used around my eyes and then a thorough but gentle moisturising massage was used over my whole face including my neck and shoulders, which left me ready to doze off.
However, it was quickly onto my favourite part of this package. A visit to the salon where staffer Nadeeka took one look at my hair and pronounced both it and my scalp very dry indeed. She set about fixing the problem with the application of a Phytodess mask treatment to my scalp, which looked a bit like mud or perhaps a root touch up if you have hair colouring.
That was washed out and a fabulous-smelling hair mask was applied and brushed through my hair. Nadeeka then wrapped my whole head in Clingfilm - I felt a bit like something out of one of those ridiculous lads’ movies - and left me under a heater for about 10 minutes before another thorough washing and a very pofessional blow dry.
The results I must admit being in a bath deep enough to swim in was a little disconcerting and, being a bit on the short side, I was concerned I would fall asleep and slide beneath the water. That said, my skin did feel really soft afterwards and I was gently relaxed heading into the facial.
This part of the treatment is something that I usually find goes on too long, but on this occasion I could have stayed for hours and my skin felt amazing afterwards.
The best part of the treatment, in my view, is the hair mask which left my crowning glory looking impossibly glossy and healthy and Nadeeka even managed to make my home-cut fringe look stylish.
The pros This is a great package to make you feel really relaxed and I was pleasantly surprised at the price.
The cons Well, there’s wearing a Clingfilm hat and fearing I’d drown in the bath but since both had such great results, I can’t really complain. Ramadan package BD56, available at Dessange, Adliya (17 713 999).
