The AWA promotes local artisans at the Snowflake Craft Fair
Time Out Bahrain staff
Promoting international friendship and inter-cultural dialogue is what the American Women’s Association (Bahrain) is all about. This non-profit organisation, which has more than 200 members in 40 countries, is made up in Bahrain of a dynamic group of ladies, from all over the world (not just America!), who put together regular social and charitable events. This includes raising funds for other non-profits and volunteering for good causes, but also more frivolous social dos, such as fashion shows and an annual ball.
From coffee mornings to book clubs, quilting groups and on-island tours, the ladies of AWA work tirelessly to make the women of Bahrain feel comfortable and welcome.
So, whether you’re looking for a like-minded pal to go shopping with or you’re hoping to volunteer at any one of the 35 charities the AWA collaborates with, you’ll always find an event, group or activity suitable for you.
This month, you can hang out with the ladies at the annual Snowflake Craft Fair, which is taking place on Saturday November 19 at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel. This event not only offers a great platform for local crafts people, artists and designers to showcase and sell their hand-crafted products to the public, but it also happens to be an excellent place for you to pick up some really unique gifts for your loved ones in time for the festive season. 500 fils entrance (charity donation), free (children under five). Sat Nov 19, 11am-4pm. Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, www.awabahrain.org.
