Sarah Brightman Live February 6 & 7, Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre, UAE English singer Sarah Brightman makes her regional debut in the Dreamchaser tour as part of the Dubai Classics series. The world’s best selling soprano of all time made her London West End debut in the musical ‘Cats’ and went on to star in several further West End and Broadway shows including ‘The Phantom of the Opera’. She is termed a classical crossover artist moving from pop to light opera alongside the likes of Andrea Bocelli and has sold more than 30 million records and 2 million DVDs worldwide. Tracy Morgan in Abu Dhabi February 6 & 7, Du Forum, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE The comedian, best known for his appearances on ‘Saturday Night Live’ and ‘30 Rock’ brings his stand-up show to the UAE. Tickets from BD30 from www.ticketmaster.ae.
Redfest February 13&14, Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, UAE The first edition of Dubai’s own music festival will see more than 20 artists performing in the open air over two days. Big names include Conor Maynard, Marvin Humes, John Newman, Naughty Boy, The Lumineers and A-YO! a DJ collective consisting of superstar producer and celebrity DJ Marc Ronson and BBC Radio One presenter and top DJ Zane Lowe. Dubai Jazz Festival February 13-20, Dubai Festival City, UAE The festival runs over a week with main gigs at the weekends and lots of other artists in the Jazz Garden in between. Headliners are Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington, Olly Murs, The Wanted, Jamie Cullum and Colbie Caillat and the incredible Santana – there were two still to be announced as we went to press. Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships February 17-March 1, Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium, UAE The world’s best players head to Dubai for the 22nd edition of this tournament. Multiple-title holders Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer will lead the charge in the men’s tournament, while the women’s will see defending champion Petra Kvitova and former title holder Caroline Wozniacki vying for the title, setting the stage for two thrilling weeks of action. Freestyle live in Dubai February 28-March 1, Al Nasr Leisureland, Dubai, UAE Popular Filipino rockers Freestyle are heading to Dubai to rock out and introduce their new members to their local fans. Red Bull Air Race February 28-March 1, Abu Dhabi Corniche, UAE After a three-year break, the The Red Bull Air Race is back with Abu Dhabi hosting the opening leg of the seven race series in which pilots have to navigate a challenging obstacle course in the fastest time. Competitors fly individually against the clock and have to complete tight turns through a slalom course consisting of pylons, known as ‘air gates’ for a spectacular show. Maxim Vengerov in concert Sun, February 9, Royal Opera House Muscat, Oman The gifted musician will show the art of the violin at its very best, performing a programme of works by Mozart and Tchaikovsky while also leading the acclaimed Polish Chamber Orchestra. Now considered one of the best violinists of his generation, Vengerov began his musical career at the tender age of five, winning prestigious international competitions soon after and making his first professional recording at the age of ten.
