From mini cupcakes to tiny pizzas, giant bouncy castles to small fairground rides, magicians to clowns, you can always find what you need right here on the island. We round up some favourite party suppliers to get you started…

Good for: Supplies, costumes and DIY décor
One of the island’s largest retailers of party supplies is Party Daze, based in Um Al Hassam (next to Senor Paco’s), providing all your party needs under one roof including items such as balloons and birthday candles, party poppers and confetti shooters. It’s a great place to rustle around and find some quirky costumes for your next bash too.

Good for: Themed party sets, decorations and organisation
Carousel is quite literally a ‘world of imagination’ and a childhood haven. It’s a beautiful store in the Nakheel Centre, opposite St Christopher’s School in Saar, as well as an online shop, selling all sorts of boutique goodies for little ones but they also provide plenty of services for parties too. This includes creating bespoke theme sets and custom decorations, table settings, dessert selections, photography and videography, lighting, music, entertainment and even custom piñatas!
Open Sat-Thu 9am-8pm. Nakheel Centre, Saar, www.worldofcarousel.com (1768 5012).
Good for: DIY party decorations and card making
A huge array of crafty supplies is available in Celebrations, with everything from glitter to beads to wool, perfect for the DIY party decorations and favours. They even run card making classes so you and your kids could even try your hand at making your own invites.
Open Sat-Thu 9am-6pm. Budaiya Highway, next to A Piece of Cake (1759 5791).
Good for: Elaborate customised cakes
The first thing you notice when you walk in the doors of Cake Boutique in Seef Corner is how pretty and girly it all is. There’s an open kitchen so you can watch the talented chefs and cake decorators do their thing and, of course, it’s not just about cupcakes with them. They also make elaborate customised cakes and pastries for every occasion so it’s a one-stop-shop for all your fluffy confectionary needs.

Good for: Why cupcakes of course!
Kids love cupcakes – there’s no two ways about it – so why not head to one of the island’s most popular cupcake stores to pick up a few (dozen) Red Velvets or Rainbows or Reese’s? The menu caters to all tastes using inspiration from loads of classic sugary, chocolate treats such as Kit Kat, Oreo and M&Ms – perfect for appeasing differing, fussy taste buds.

A Piece of Cake
Good for: Homemade cakes and full-on home catering
We’ve certainly been inundated with cake and cupcake shops in Bahrain over the past few years but we can’t forget about stalwart shop ‘A Piece of Cake’ in Budaiya, particularly when they do so much more than just baked goods. It was back in 1992 that owner Kim Hijris decided to turn her hobby for creating custom-made novelty cakes into a business and now they offer homemade, rustic cakes in the store, alongside other light bites and plenty of tea, as well as home catering – for sweet and savoury food – and the team never miss the chance to impress during special occasions.
Open Sat-Thu 8am-6pm. Budaiya Highway, www.apieceofcakebahrain.com (1759 6055). Other location: Riffa (1777 7909).
Good for: Sparties
While there’s an abundance of party venues for kids in Bahrain, one of our newest favourites is Lalapaloza in Al A’ali Shopping Complex. Walking in is like walking into your childhood – hundreds of brightly coloured sweets and candy-inspired toys greet you on arrival, alongside inviting and intermingling smells of chocolate, strawberries and other mouthwatering flavours. They have a dedicated party space but also offer creative ‘sparties’ (spa-parties) with safe, eco-friendly treatments available using candy-inspired products. It’s every little girl’s dream spot. And they welcome boys too!
Open Mon-Wed 11am-8pm; Thu-Sat 11am-10pm. Al A’ali Shopping Complex, Seef (1610 1612).
Good for: Mind-blowing illusions
Javier Saba is a Bahrain-based close-up magician and illusionist who has plenty of 2015 tricks up his sleeve (and he does not work with animals). He caters for special events and parties, for anyone over the age of nine, as his kind of sophisticated magic needs some serious pondering. He charges BD200 per hour and BD350 for two hours. Be prepared to expect the unexpected.
Contact him on email@example.com and visit www.magicianbahrain.com.
Good for: Princess themed parties and make-overs
Another great party venue option for little girls is Little Princess where you’ll find a whole host of varying packages for your cuties such as the ‘Enchanted Princess Birthday Package’ which offers the royal birthday room, pink decorations, games and activities (with prizes), invitations and thank you cards, party bags, a fashionable princess birthday sash, cake, fairy godmother host and a digital photo set to keep. The ‘Royal Princess Birthday’ on the other hand has all that plus a royal make-over and special gift for the birthday girl, as well as party food and drinks. It’s a great option for your little divas.
Open daily 10am-10pm. Seef Mall, www.littleprincess.com.bh (1756 4898).
Good for: Birthday fun with rides
Boys and girls undoubtedly love a bit of theme park action so booking a party at Adhari Park could be a great move. With over 38 fun rides in store including the log flume, bowling, bumper cars, trampolines, pedal boats and many more, kids are bound to create plenty of lasting memories here. A multi-purpose hall is also available, as are party packages on request.
Open Sun-Thu 4pm-midnight; Fri-Sat 10am-midnight (indoor rides and bowling), 4pm-midnight (outdoor rides and go karting). Adhari (1740 7300).
Good for: Toddlers and little ones who love making and owning cuddly toys
A really fun idea for the younger sprogs is having a little do at the Build-a-Bear Workshop in City Centre Bahrain. Each of your party guests gets to create their own stuffed animal (for which they get a birth certificate to keep) while fun-filled games and activities are also available for parties of over six children.
Prices start from BD6 per guest to make their own cuddly toy but you can get plenty more included in your package. Just discuss your budget with someone in-store.
Open Sat-Wed 10am-10pm; Thu-Fri 10am-midnight. City Centre Bahrain, Seef. www.buildabear.ae (1717 8560).
Good for: Inquisitive minds
Combining birthday fun with imagination and hands-on educational activities is what you have in store at Mad Science in Abu Saiba. Their parties last up to 90 minutes and are great for five to 12 year olds (although they have special packages available for kids aged three to five as well). You can invite as many kids as you like and even choose the location. Their interactive, entertaining parties include all sorts of demonstrations, chemical reactions and activities which are mess- and hassle-free for parents. Children get to make their own slippery slime or Mad Science superball (which turns special crystals into bouncy balls) to take home and you can choose to include options such as dry ice, periscope building, cotton candy making, and even goodie bags.
Get in touch for pricing. Visit www.bahrain.madscience.org, email firstname.lastname@example.org, call 1759 1136.
Silly Billy Games
Good for: Everything you need!
When you talk about a one-stop-party-shop then Silly Billy Games is the ultimate. They have been catering to Bahrain’s entertainment market for just less than ten years now so they’re certainly veterans at organising a great bash. They are the people to turn to for the rental of big games such as bouncy castles, bull rides, slides, rides, fog machines, DJ systems and more, to turn your party into the most talked about this year. They also provide all sorts of décor from balloons to banners, table and chair coverings to photo booths, and even sell DIY decorations and party supplies for every special occasion at their store in Zinj. You can also organise entertainment through them such as a balloon twister or face painter, hair braiding, henna tattoos and the obligatory clown.
Open Sat-Thu 9am-8pm. Zinj, on the Naser Pharmacy strip. Call 3939 3950 or visit their Instagram page @SillyBillyGames for up-to-date examples of their work.
