Banan Yaquby tells us about his favourite things in Bahrain

Banan Yaquby, CEO, Yaquby Stores
Favourite space I don’t think I have a favourite, physical, tangiable space, it’s kind of an imaginative thing. I am a creative person, and I have a design background, so when I go into my imagination, that becomes my favourite space.
Favourite restaurant Monsoon in Adliya is my favourite. I just love how they have so much variety. They have the best sushi in Bahrain, and I’m a big sushi fan. I also love their green curry.
Favourite shop Can I have two? One is Villa Moda. I’m a big fan and I just love how they started a concept and ran with it. Rana Salam, she’s an Arabic designer, she takes things from olden days and revives them, modernises them – and that’s the philosophy behind the shop and what it sells. Another is the Camera Shop in City Centre – one of Yaquby’s own shops – as when I started with the company I worked on the branding and the logo, so it is something personal to me. And it’s just a great place for photographers to meet.
Secret gem Does it have to be in Bahrain? I would say Mecca, which I love to go to as it is just very peaceful. It’s a place you can go to to feel really isolated, and a place you can go to get a fresh you. There are 11 Yaquby Stores located throughout Bahrain, and one in Qatar. The Camera Shop is located at Bahrain City Centre. Yaquby is also the local distributor for ST Dupont and Breitling. More info at www.yaquby.com.
