It’s a brand new decade! And anyone who’s anyone knows that a new decade requires an entirely new wardrobe

For the ladies
Having spent the past few years glamming it up, the trendsetters of 2010 will be ditching their heels and chucking on something just a little more, well, practical. Loose fitting jeans are in, as are baggy t shirts. You might even avoid jail time should you decide to pop on a hoodie, though getting the right brand is paramount to avoid being imprisoned by the fashion police. Some of this season’s styles we love include:
No, it’s not Back to the 80s, but shoulders are definitely in this season. We love what rock and roll fashion designer Todd Lynn did in his spring/summer collection, though you will have to fly half way around the world to get yourself a pair of peaked epaulettes. Those hoping to imitate at a fraction of the price can try balancing a fish head on either shoulder.
Jason Wu sunglasses
Sunglasses have been stuck in a rut these past few years, and even perennial favourites Chanel and Prada seemed to have run out of ideas. Then along came pint-sized Taiwanese Jason Wu, and Wu hu! sun specs are worth wearing again. www.jasonwustudio.com.
A theme this season was breaking clothes down, and showing off the shabby parts. Jil Sander, the master minimalist, could be accused of only half making her collection this season. Bad news if you like to look like little miss perfect; great news if you fancy trying out the trend by chopping up something from last season. www.jilsander.com.
Peroxide blond, red lips
Marilyn Monroe has never been out, but perhaps the influence of bombshell Lady Gaga has made dying your hair within an inch of its life and then plastering your lips with rouge the look to book in the new decade.
Since all the best people in Bahrain live on the sea, it seems only fitting that one of this year’s biggest trends are sailor stripes. As the weather warms, you’ll want to be seen sporting this number by Michael Stars. www.michaelstars.com.
