The stuff you need to know about Apple’s newest creation...
1 It is called the iPad. After weeks of speculation about the iSlate, the iTablet, the iCanvas the name was staring us all in the face all along.
2 But what exactly is an iPad? Put simply it is a portable computer. Really, that is all. The hype has been tremendous but all you really need to know is that it is a portable computer. There is no keyboard or fold out screen like you would find on a notebook computer. But don’t be fooled – it is far cooler than that. Here’s why…
3 The whole kit weighs just 1.5lbs
4 iPad has 16 to 64GB of flash memory
5 iPad has a 9.7-inch capacitive touchscreen IPS LCD display
6 iPad has a custom 1GHz Apple chip developed by P.A. Semi
7 iPad has a 10-hour battery life and a month of standby
i loved the product !! and definitely i'll buy it but isn't it an OVERsized iPod touch

I am using Apple commuters since 1992. And I was also using the first prototype of handheld PDA´s, the Newton. A lot of things are come since that time. The iPad might open the way for new mobile applications.
The new iPad should be seen as Apple´s answer on the Amazon´s eBook reader coming with some useful additional features. I hope, this product can survive on the market against the cheaper competitors.
But in general, a computer (desk or lap topped) is more convenient for work and a iPone is the best iPod with included MP3 player.

I saw the presentation and have been thinking about the product for a long time. I am big supporter of Apple Inc., but the iPad in it's present state falls short in my expectations.
I would much rather own a laptop then an iPad simply because it has more functionality. The iPad limits its use as it has no USB inputs, no options which would allow it to connect to other devices directly such as multimedia projectors etc. As a business user who is on the go a lot, I would love it if it can with a universal connector which would allow me to plug in the device to a projector to carry out presentations on the go. However thats not possible at present from what I know.
Anyways that my two cents.

You can't really call it a portable computer when it doesn't do any multitasking! For instance, you can't listen to Internet radio and browse the web at the same time. It is nothing else than a large iPod Touch that gives you more comfort reading and typing email or browsing web pages. It also let you buy and read e-books (not sure how straining it would be for the eyes after several hours as it is back-lit LCD). And by the way, it is not a giant iPhone: although some version comes with 3G card, it's only for Internet connection on the move. No real phone feature, no camera for video conferencing etc... Just something to look cool in cafes and to show of at home in the lounge or check a recipe online while cooking...

I would say, that the iPad is much more as its parts!
It is the software, which sparkles. Don't be fooled: already the software, which apple will offer, will have more potential as iPhone and iTouch.
It is also the speed; it is not a netbook, which does everything what a Laptop can - but slower and worse [and cheaper] - it is snappy and great to use.
And it is the interface and the way, how you are using the web and email and other things; kinda Enterprise-Sci-Fi way - and very cool!
The only information, which I would expect here is, when it will be available in the UAE[well, the information of the iPad was published in every main newswebsite - so for major information, it doesn't need to be posted here], and how much it will cost here.
