A day at the race Fri 6, Sakhir Race Course: Enjoy the colour, drama and action of a day at the races. On Fridays throughout the winter season the Rashid Equestrian & Horse Racing Club organises a programme of exciting race events for all the family at the public race track off Zallaq Highway, entrance by the three horses statue. Best foot forward Fri 6, Seef Mall: Runners will be taking to the roads for the 35th annual Bahrain Half Marathon.Covering a distance of 21.1km, the race will get underway at Seef Mall between 7am and 8am and is expected to attract around 200 participants. Registration is open on www.barhrainroadrunners.com but those wanting to take part will also be able to sign up before the event on the day. Run for it: Bahrain Road Runners do the half marathon.
Fast and furious Fri 6, Sat 7, BIC: Watch the region’s top drivers battle it out on the track as, for the first time ever, Maserati Trofeo JBF RAK joins forces with WGA Supercars and the BIC 2000cc Challenge to stage the BIC Speed Weekend, an event packed with championship races and non-stop fun. Tickets are BD5 for race day or BD7 for the whole weekend, and kids go free. Call 17450000. Charity sale Sat 7, Shahrazad Hall (formerly Bushehri Hall, off Budaiya Road, turn right after Zait Zaytoon): Elbows at the ready bargain hunters, the Fifth Annual Charity Sale Bazaar runs from 9am to 7pm, with proceeds going to help the kingdom’s less fortunate residents. Items can be donated up to January 5 from books and furniture to toys, electronics and plants – volunteers are still needed to help sort donations and also on the day. Call 39414194.
