How old are you and what do you do when you’re not shooting?
I’m 27 years old and I’m employedd by the Ministry of the Interior.
What category will you be competing in?
50m Rifle 3 position -women and 10m Air Rifle women.
Is this your first Olympics?
Yes this is the first Olympic Games for me.
What was your reaction when you knew you had qualified, was it a hard route with lots of competitions?
First of all I would like to thank Shaikh Salman Alhumood AlSobah the President of Asian Shooting Confederation. And Shaikh Salman Bin Khalid AlKhalifa the honorable President of Bahrain Shooting Association that they have given me this big opportunity. Secondly, this is a dream that came true to get the opportunity to compete in the 2012 Olympics. I will try my best to get the best results in the 2012 London Olympics.
How long have you been shooting and do you have any other medals or championships?
I started shooting in 2006 and since then, I have won around 20 different medals in different events in 2006. The latest was a gold medal in 50m Rifle 3 position (TEAM) and silver in 10m at the Shaikh Ahmed Alsabah International competition in 2012.
How did you become interested in this sport? Was it through work or before that?
It all started during a training camp then only, I realised then that I had this talent. Then consequently, I deeply got interested in shooting. Now, I really feel proud that I am taking a big role in the Bahrain Shooting Team.
What’s the competition like in your field?
As a member of the national team we have a positive competition between team members on the national level. The competition range also becomes wider when competing with GCC, Arab and international players.
What do your family think of you competing, Will they be going with you to watch, are you friends with the other team members, is there a good spirit of camaraderie? My family is feeling very proud of me that I am going to participate in the Olympic Games 2012. No one will go with me except my coach. The only thing which I take with me is best wishes from Bahrain.
Will you get time to do anything else while you are in London?
I want to concentrate on my shooting during this time. My aim is to get a gold medal for my dearest country.
