Go bowling
No matter which date Ramadan falls, Funland will still be open and you can still head down as a family or a group of friends for a game or two. Hit the lanes, drink a soda and mark the score card. It’s only BD2 per person per game including shoes so it’s also a great budget way to have fun.

Ladies’ nights
The ever popular ladies’ nights at the Lost Paradise of Dilmun are back in full swing up to Ramadan. It’s a chance for the girls to listen to some great music from female DJ Guitaroo with not a guy in sight. The lifeguards and, in fact, all the staff are female so to chill out in privacy, there are also new activities including a fish spa for women. Entry is BD15 for guests over 1.2m and BD7 for those below.
Thursdays, 6pm-midnight. Call (17 845 100)

Singles golf
Bachelors and bachelorettes can take advantage of a chance to improve their swing on Tuesday evenings with a group coaching clinic followed by drinks and nibbles at BD15.
Every Tue through summer from 6pm. Call (17 750 777)

Chinese cookery
Due to the public demand, the recently launched cooking classes with chef Cheng have been moved to every Friday morning so even those who work during the week will have a chance to take part. Registration is for BD8++per person per session and classes are progressional.
Fridays, Sheraton Hotel, 10am-noon. Call (39 026 011)

Get some therapy
Plan a day of pampering to start the Holy Month with lots of the big spas having specials on. We’re planning Dessange at the beginning of the month and maybe a trip to Sparadies before Eid. Kempinski and the InterCon also have some great packages.

Various locations. Dessange (17 713 999)

Brainiacs Quiz
When they say ‘are you smarter than a DJ?’ we take it that’s a rhetorical question. If you want to find out the answer head over to Amwaj and put your general knowledge, trivia and downright nonsense skills to the test.
Wednesdays, Corners up to Ramadan. Call (16 031 113)
