Brunch with a difference launches It was surely only a matter of time. Tonight the Mövenpick becomes the island’s first hotel to extend its famous Friday brunch to Thursday night. There’ll be the usual great food, cold cuts, a huge selection of cheeses, live cooking stations and a great choice of beverages and mixed drinks in a very grown-up atmosphere. The price is BD22++ and, since this is likely to prove popular, it’s a good idea to book in advance. Thu, September 19, Mövenpick Hotel, 7-11pm, Call (17 460 000).
Down dog If you want to take your yoga practise to the next level, there’s a series of workshops by internationally certified teacher Mine Yalcin Fuller concentrating on three specific areas - hip opening, back bends and twists. In each workshop the first half will work on fine tuning poses that there’s not usually time for in regular classes then the second half will be a vinyasa flow class based on that day’s theme. Each workshop costs BD45 or it’s BD120 for all three with a vegetarian lunch thrown in for BD5. Sep 20 & 27 and October 4, La Fontaine, 10am-1pm, Call (17 230 123).
Pool party with a difference Eventions is launching a summer brand, Alive, at the first Muju pool party of the season. Boss Damian isn’t giving too much away just yet but he tells us the name comes from the whole idea of the brand, putting DJs together with live performers. We’re thinking something like Café del Mar here folks! And though the artists haven’t yet been confirmed (or the ticket prices for that matter), he promises it will be something new and different and the players will be international performers. Sounds like one to watch. Alive launch, September 20. Muju, The Dragon Resort, Amwaj (16 033 833).
