Alwan art festival, karting and some waterpark fun in Bahrain

Alwan 338 Check out Al Riwaq’s annual public arts festival Alwan338. This year’s theme is foundations and focuses on the neighbourhood of Adlya with a packed schedule of exhibitions, workshops, screenings, talks, food, music and more. This even offers the opportunity to interact with exciting new art works exhibited all over Adliya, made by local, regional, and international artists. Until April 19, Al Riwaq Art Space, Adliya.
Art attack The first of the Ministry of Culture’s monthly markets. Running on the second weekend of the month throughout the year, the Art Market highlights the Ministry’s declaration of 2014 as ‘Our Year of Art’ and sees Bahraini artists and the creative community showcasing their work. Expect paintings, photography and more plus great food and musical entertainment. March 13-15, Bab Al Bahrain.
Big Wednesday We’ve just discovered Big Wednesdays with an extended Happy Hour giving 20 percent off beverages all night long from 5pm and, even better, it’s Ladies’ Night from 9pm-1am which makes for a very cheap, even if somewhat early, start to the weekend. Karting endurance The 24-hour race returns to the karting track this weekend with free entry for spectators and various trackside entertainment to keep visitors busy as the drivers race through the night in a feat of mammoth determination. Take to the water With the weather heating up, the big outdoor waterpark at Al Areen opens its doors for the summer season with Sinbad’s Adventure, an interactive musical show featuring English and Arabic songs and running for two weeks alongside all the family favourite rides.
