The dress

Cinderellas who’ve found their Prince Charming – and have access to his bank account – have little need for fairy godmothers now that Aloothman Bridal is here. Tucked away in La Fontaine Centre of Contemporary Art, this branch of the exclusive Kuwaiti fashion house is a dream come true for brides-to-be. Fittingly for the gallery location, dresses by Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera and Monique L’Huilier are displayed like sculpted works of art, and there’s a spacious dressing room where friends can recline on a sofa and give their verdict as you swan by. Definitely a bit of all white.
La Fontaine Centre of Contemporary Art, 92 Hoora Ave (17 230 123). Open Tue-Sun 10am-2pm, 5pm-9pm; Fri 5pm-9pm

The slipper

The special day deserves a special shoe, and you’re certain to find one that fits the occasion at Jimmy Choo in Al Aali Shopping Complex. Born in London of a collaboration between then Vogue accessories editor Tamara Mellon and couture shoe-maker Jimmy Choo, the label has achieved iconic status globally, not only because the designs are glamorous with a capital ‘G’, but there’s a strong focus on wearability too. So, no matter how high the heel, you’ll have a sure footing when you head down the aisle. Say, ‘I Choo’.
Ground floor, Al Aali Shopping Complex (17 582 807). Open daily 10am-10pm

The trousseau

A bride can’t embark on this life-altering journey without a few supplies, and Trousseau is the place to stock up on everything you’ll need to take you from honeymoon (sleepwear, shoe bags, pampering products) to home, sweet home (couture blankets, anyone?). This treasure trove of all things feminine offers a few cool labels that you won’t find anywhere else on the island and a bridal gift service too. We love the Lady Primrose range of things, which includes drawer liners, scented candles and powder to fragrance sheets that comes in a pretty crystal shaker.
Al-Dhila Shopping Centre, Hamala (39 926 627). Open Sat-Thu 10am-2pm, 4pm-7pm
