November 1-3 We’re uber excited that it’s almost time for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Even though we love all the glitz and glamour of the trackside, we’re mostly hyped about the big entertainers who are heading to the region with Arab superstars on the Thursday night, including Amr Diab, the one and only Jay-Z on the Friday night, Brit super rockers Muse on the Saturday night and electro veterans Depeche Mode closing the show on Sunday. We’re booking our tickets as we type.
November 7 It’s that time of year again when a small contingent of the UK’s Chelsea Pensioners head to Bahrain for the annual Poppy Ball. Held to raise funds for the Chelsea Pensioners, the Earl Haig Fund and Bahrain Mother and Child Welfare, the ball is always a highlight in the island’s social calendar and this year’s event will take place at the Crowne Plaza. So dig out your party pants and prepare to part with some cash Tickets go on sale October 1. November 28-30 There’s yet another weekend of partying and mayhem in store at the end of the month when the Rugby 7s circus rolls into Dubai.
A number of teams from our own Bahrain Rugby Club usually travel over for the event, complete with lots of supporters - we’ll be telling you more about the local players next month.
If you’ve never been before, expect big groups in crazy fancy dress, a general carnival atmosphere and a feast of fast and furious rugby with some of the world’s best teams battling it out on the pitch. We feel a very poor December coming on with all this good stuff in the offing.
