The Ministry of Culture continues rolling out its special Ramadan programme
A whole host of activities are being rolled out by Bahrain’s Ministry of Culture this month, as they aim to highlight traditions and customs from Bahrain and all over the Middle East. Here’s what to expect this week in Bahrain:
Ramadhaniyet Souq What? Traditional style market selling both traditional and local products When? July 9 to July 19, 9pm to 11.30pm Where? Old Manama souq and Bab Al Bahrain area In detail… It will include a range of shops and kiosks selling an array of creative Bahraini products and handicrafts, both traditional and modern, alongside folk music concerts and other family-friendly events and activities.
Celebration of artist Muhammad Abdel Wahab What? A music concert to commemorate the artist with the Arab Music Heritage Ensemble When? July 10, from 9.30pm Where? Cultural Hall (free entry) In detail… This concert celebrates the life and works of Egyptian composer and singer Muhammad Abdel Wahab. The concert, held in cooperation with the Egyptian embassy, will encapsulate Arabian culture at a time when Arabic music and song captured history and retold it with passion.
Gargaoun Night What? This mid-Ramadan event is celebrated for kids When? July 10, 9pm to 10.30pm Where? Q’alat Al Bahrain Site Museum In detail… Celebrated in the middle of the Holy Month, Gargaoun sees kids go around houses wearing traditional clothing and singing old song and in return they’re given sweets, nuts and coins. See firsthand the spirit of this age-old celebration.
