Take the time to check out Juffair’s newest offering this month. Just opened in the new Al Marooj Hotel Diamond Sky is a unique club created by Arturo Lopep and directed by Juan Medrano, former general manager of the biggest club in the world, Privilege Ibiza!
It’s actually two clubs with Sky playing international DJs every single night, this month it’s Ibiza veterans Felix da Funk and Michael Sanchez, and open every night till 2am.
Diamond, the night lounge, is the after hours venue, open till 6am with cool beats and commercial sounds.
To be honest, it’s so new that we haven’t even checked it out yet but we’ll be taking a looking in the coming weeks and letting you know all about it next month.

Simply the best
It’s said Julie Nevada’s tribute to Tina Turner ‘captures Tina’s stage presence, the legs and, most importantly, the voice of this great rock legend!’
Bit of an odd choice since Julie is a white woman who also does Cher and Bonnie Tyler but she’s been in show biz since the age of 15 so she must have quite a lot going for her.
She’s the first of two Tina tributes to hit the island this month. You be the judge, which one really is ‘simply the best’?
Fri, Feb 1, Vesuvio, Best Western The Olive, Juffair. Entry BD5. Call (17 360 063).
Déjà Vu goes acoustic
Catch up local Bahraini band Alderon at Déjà vu for an acoustic set. The guys have returned after a few months’ break and February sees the first of their new monthly performances. They play a wide range of styles but are pretty much in the indie camp so expect some surprises with their own material.
Fri, Feb 1, Déjà Vu Lounge, Adliya. Entry free. Call (13 657 770).
Check out the talent
Well the flyer says ‘singers, dancers, magicians, circus/stunt performers, instrumentalists, comedians, novelty acts, animal acts (not sure we approve of this one), child performers’ they’re all welcome at the monthly talent night at Block 338. Last time we went, which, admittedly was a while ago, there was a rather good chap playing Spanish guitar, so it seems they’re pretty serious about seeking out good local talent. If you fancy your chances call (33 304 030) to arrange an audition.
Fri, Feb 8 (subject to confirmation), Block 338, Adliya. Call (17 710 338).
Valentine’s with a difference
The Mövenpick’s come up with a novel idea for Valentine’s night. The live band’s doing welcome songs then mid evening local comic Ali Fingerz takes the stage – sounds like one for those couples who struggle to keep the conversation going, at least they’ll be guaranteed of a laugh! The bad news for non-couples is that it comes as part of a dinner package.
Thu, Feb 14, Flamingo Bar, Mövenpick Hotel. BD24.9 per person. Call (Call (17 460 000).
Trad Seisuin
If you’re into a bit of the boron, tin whistle or fiddle, take a stroll down to Fiddler’s tonight, or the last Wednesday of any month, and you’ll find musical members of the Bahrain Irish Society having a come-one-come-all jam session. Don’t play or sing? No problem just go along for the craic.
Wed, Feb 27, Fiddler’s Green, Diplomat Radisson Blu.Call (17 531 666).
Psytrance, backbeat and cheap drinks

Madjamming
Lebanese three-way mixer MaDJam makes another appearance at Karma Lounge at Coral Bay. The DJ (whose name comes from his real moniker of Ahmad Ajam) has played warm-up and follow-up sets with some of the biggest DJs and dance music artists and his sets are always real crowd pleasers, even more so in this great waterfront venue.
Thu, Feb 28, Karma Lounge, Coral Bay, Tickets TBC. Call (17 312 700).
Tina Turner too
Having started the month with a tribute to Tina Turner, we finish with another looky likey in the form of Milli Munro, who, apparently ‘is ... Tina Turner’!
With 28 years on the circuit, Milli is probably the best known Tina Turner tribute in the UK and has performed as the idol all over the world.
Another white woman playing a black woman, seems it’s not as unusual as we thought and we’re told that, eyes closed, you could believe you were listening to the real article.
Thu, Feb 28, JJ’s, Adliya. Tickets BD4. Call (39 329 083).
