Dublin’s Got Talent The annual Dubz karaoke contest is running throughout the month with the weekly Saturday jam nights (June 1, 8, 15 and 22) acting as qualifiers before the grand final on the last Thursday of the month. Al Dar beach barbecue Following a month-long initiative to clean up the beach and sea around Al Dar that saw volunteers snorkelling to bring up bags of rubbish, Al Dar management says ‘thanks’ with a barbie beach party that’s free for those who’ve turned in at least one sack of trash. Chuckle Club This month’s Chuckle Club brings another bunch of sterling talents to the island in the shape of stand-up comic and CBBC presenter Iain Stirling (pictured), dubbed one of Scotland’s hottest newcomers by The Scotsman, fellow Scot Alan Francis and guitar-playing TV favourite Rob Deering. Summer Beach Party They do love their costume parties down at the Hotel California. This time it’s the turn of the ever-popular beach theme. WTF XI; enough said. You know what to expect KLUB 360 is calling all house music lovers to join them for WTF XI featuring industry heavyweight, DJ Paul Deighton. From Hong Kong to Moscow, Bogota to Bahrain, Paul Deighton has travelled almost the entire globe representing Ministry of Sound and Housexy. A tiger in your tank BMMI is launching Singapore’s number one brew on the island and Mezzaluna is reopening for the occasion. There’ll be graffiti artists, beat boxers, body artists, dance crews and much more including tunes from DJ Marko Smokingroove, resident of Nasimi Beach/Sandance in Dubai which hosts some of the biggest events in the Middle East so we can expect a mega night. La Fete de la Musique The Sofitel pays tribute to its French heritage by celebrating World Music Day, which began in France in 1982, with a concert by the Manama Singers. The choral group is made up of more than 100 people, both expats and nationals, from across Bahrain, Saudi and the wider GCC. Their performances are always really popular and quite spectacular so this is likely to sell out early, particularly with proceeds going to charity. La Fete de la Musique. Funny Bone It looks like being a funny old June with yet more UK comics heading out to round off the month as the Dilmun Club welcomes Patrick Monahan, Stephen Carlin, Billy Kirkwood and Steven Davidson.
