Until Saturday (March 1) Bahrain International Garden Show is back at the Bahrain Exhibition Centre with lots of displays on growing stuff in our desert climate, things for the garden (and terrace), water efficiency, stuff for kids to get involved in and lots more. Thursday Feb 27 Lebanese singer Michel Fadel opens the Spring of Culture at the National Theatre with a performance starting at 8.30pm. He’ll be mixing traditional Arabic songs with music from more than 50 different artists. There are still tickets available at the Virgin Megastore at Bahrain City Centre. www.springofculture.org
Thursday Feb 27 until Saturday The latest edition of the Bab Market kicks off down at the Bab Al Bahrain with all sorts of arty and music stuff – local designers showing their wares, various bands performing and food stalls selling lots of good stuff.
Thursday Feb 27 Someone who’s described at the World Official Pitbull tribute comes to Warbler with a show including dancers and an MC. Friday Feb 28 JJ's presents, A Night At The Movies, an all-singing, all-dancing tribute stage show featuring the music and costumes of four of the greatest dance movies ever Grease, Mamma Mia, Saturday Night Fever and Dirty Dancing. Saturday March 1 Local author Ali Al Saeed will be at Words book store at Palm Square off the Budaiya Highway, to talk about his latest book ‘The Randomist’ which contains essays, columns and blog posts chronicling his life. From 5pm-6.30pm. Monday March 3 Egyptian singer Ghalia bin Ali takes to the stage at the Sheikh Ebrahim Centre to perform a tribute to the legendary Arab songstress Umm Kulthum as part of the Spring of Culture.
Wednesday March 5 Philip Bailey and Ramsay Lewis at Arad Fort as part of the Spring of Culture. Thursday March 6 Tenor Jose Carreras, best known for his appearances with the Three Tenors, alongside Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti, comes to the island for a one-off appearance at the Bahrain National Theatre. Thursday March 6 Those nice people at Studio Ceramics are putting on a one-day stained glass copper foiling workshop where you can learn how to safely cut glass, edge it in foil and solder it.
