Three to try: Pop culture costume ideas
The Walking Dead
You could go as the most fearful survivor from The Walking Dead but the classic zombie look, done right, should send even your hardiest friends running. The best bit of the costume is you could be anyone you like – a ballerina, butcher, baker or banker – all you have to do is gore it up. Rip holes in your clothes, get hems to fray, singe threads and create burn marks, then chuck on some fake blood, and roll around in some dirt. Finally, your make up should be pale and contoured for the ultimate ghastly, gaunt look. Pop in some creepy contact lenses for maximum effect.
Game of Thrones
Choices, choices, choices. Should it be a soldier from the Night’s Watch; any of the Starks post-red wedding; the towering Brienne of Tarth; or Khaleesi herself? In our opinion, for the best GoT-inspired costume, there’s no question – get your pals together and go as a group of White Walkers. It would steal the limelight at any Halloween shindig. Going alone? Then it’s got to be the seriously spooky Night’s King.
One of the year’s most insane and heart-pumping movies – Mad Max: Fury Road – surely deserves some attention on Halloween. Ladies, Imperator Furiosa (played by Charlize Theron) is a great choice and shouldn’t be too difficult to do with some army-inspired garb and black face paint. For the men, a take on Immortan Joe or one of The War Boys would be seriously scary stuff. As would going all-out and becoming Coma, the Doof Warrior (aka the guitarist on the front of the ‘Doof wagon’).
