After a a gap of over 18 months, I visited Monson twice in the last month or so. Once as personal and once for a business dinner. On both ocassions, I came away disapointed.
Having tasted a wide variety of the dishes from the two visits, my overall impression is the food is fairly average, not terrible by any means but not anything to write home about either.
On the first vsist, we ordered cocktails which took and age ot come and then were undrinkable and nothing like the description. To be fair, they exchanged them for 2 beers without fuss.
This could and should be a great restaurant but if I dont go back for another 18 months, it won't cause me concern.

The menu has more pages than the Shanghai telephone Directory and looks like its been thumbed by as many hands! Yuk. We went for lunch and the first 3 orders of beverage were "not available sir"..finally finding something we ploughed on therough the confusing menu trying to avoid brown and deep fried. Food is bland and fairly dissapointing. Setting is good but a little musty and becuase of its size unless rammed full, will lack atmosphere. Waiting staff seem uninterested and prefunctionary...they even closed the bar without telling us and then neglected to order the obligatory taxi so we had a nice 20min wait after the meal finished. Only go here if you can't afford Cafe Italia.
