I saw this place recommended in the article "5 to try: seaside dining." There it said this was "the best spot in town." Seriously? That does not say much for Bahrain then, because this place was horrible. Yes, it is by the water, and that's nice I guess, though you have a view of a dirty little cluster of shanties where people are raising chickens on one side, and construction on the other, so not exactly the best view. The patio is small. The decor, what little there is, is really old and shabby. The ceiling is supported by old rusted welded iron bars. The canopy overhead is filthy and tattered. The furniture on the upper patio is plastic, and on the lower patio every single person was smoking shisha... which creates a headache-inducing smell along with that annoying ::blurp, blurp, blurp:: sound constantly in the background. Worst of all, there was garbage everywhere. The place was a mess. It looks like they don't clean up after guests leave. In the wilted bushes next to our table there were bones, bits of discarded food, plastic trash, cigarette butts and animal feces. Finally, the food would have been reasonably priced if it was good, but it was very mediocre and thus overpriced considering what you got. I don't think I've ever paid so much for hummous before except maybe at very posh restaurants in 5 star hotels where it was a little bit more. I'd add that the service was subpar but really that's what I've come to expect from every Lebanese restaurant, so nothing unusual there. I truly hope this is not "the best spot in town," and actually I already know that it's not. Eating at McDonald's is preferable.
