Barbie on the beach: Those looking for one of the most remarkable Iftar events in Bahrain need look no further than the Novotel Al Dana. Every evening, the resort’s beach will be taken over by air-conditioned tents to create a traditional Arabian night market. With live cooking stations and a range of Mediterranean and Arabic cuisine on offer, this is one Iftar event not to be missed. Iftar indoors: Fancy filling up on Iftar, but don’t fancy anything that resembles camping? Then you’ll want to head to the Sheraton, Bahrain, which will be serving Iftar in the Awali Ballroom Time: Sunset-8.30pm Cost: BD14.9++ Call the Sheraton on 17 533 533.
Iranian affair: Fancy Iftar, but can’t stuff anymore tabbouleh salad in your cake hole? Then why not try a variation on the theme of Arabic cuisine and opt for a Persian platter. One of the best Iranian restaurants in Bahrain, Takht-e-Jamsheed in the Gulf Hotel, will be offering an Iftar spread throughout Ramadan. Those keen on Arabic fare should head to the sister restaurant (also located in the Gulf Hotel) Al Waha. Bookings for both are advisable. Buffet with a view: The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa is, for 11 months of the year, the venue for the island’s most raucous Friday brunch. During Ramadan it is home to one of the highest Iftar buffets in the country. With a vast spread laid on in Al Fanar Supperclub, this place offers night views over Bahrain’s skyline, complete with local music for entertainment and a selection of board games. Celebrating on the coast:Coral Beach Club has long dominated Bahrain’s nightlife, and Ramadan is no exception. With the club’s biggest and most prominent restaurant, Rayes, having been renovated in the past month, the restaurant will celebrate its opening by hosting one of the most luxurious Iftar buffets in Bahrain. Making a splash: A water park might not be the first place you’d think of when it comes to breaking the fast, but the Lost Paradise of Dilmun is fast getting a name for itself as one of the country’s best places for Ramadan. With extended opening hours (4pm-1am at the weekend, and 7pm-1am during the week) and a range of games for both adults and children, as well as popular dive-in movies, this place gets packed. Pick of the crop: With one of the best brunches in Bahrain, the Crowne Plaza was always going to impress when it came to Iftar and ghabga events this Ramadan. With a massive Iftar spread across all three restaurants (much in the same vein as the Ab Fab Brunch) and a truly regal set menu for ghabga, this is certainly worth a try during Ramadan. Truly elite: With such a massive presence in Bahrain, the Elite Group have some of the most interesting Iftar events around. At the Elite Resort and Spa, the Noor Tent will offer traditional oud music, a range of family games and some of the best food around. The resort also offers deals for ghabga. The Elite Grand Hotel in Seef will hold something similar in their Zad Al Kheir tent. Iftar’s the limit: Well known for its Sky’s the Limit buffet every Tuesday, the Skyw@lk Cafe at the Marriott Executive apartments in Juffair will be serving one of the best value Iftar buffets every evening during Ramadan (on Tuesdays it will remain The Sky’s The Limit, which has an Italian theme), with the entire venue decorated in traditional Arabic garb, along with full wi-fi access throughout.
