Arabian and Bedouin style tents are part of the landscape during Ramadan where lavish iftar and ghabga buffets are laid out, oud players entertain and traditional board games perk up the atmosphere. There’s no better time of year than now to experience what true Bahraini hospitality is all about and these six venues are where you can go to witness it.
Elite Resort & Spa Al Noor All your favourite Bahraini classics – thareed, hareesa, madhrooba – are being featured in the lavish international buffet at Elite Resort & Spa’s Al Noor Tent this year. Tuck into a variety of salads and appetisers, main courses and desserts, including freshly baked Arabic sweets and a special selection of 15 types of dates and dried fruits.
Also quench your thirst with Ramadan beverages like jallab, tamarind and laban. During iftar, it’s all about the food, but from 8.30pm onwards there is live entertainment by oud and tarab players, as well as a bunch of games to enjoy such as chess, backgammon and cards, and shisha.
A daily raffle draw with exciting prizes is also set to take place, alongside activities planned specially for kids and ladies too. Iftar buffet starts at Maghreb prayer until 8pm. InterContinental Regency Al Thurraya Oud player Dori Aboud, with a Lebanese trio, is creating the authentic atmosphere over at InterContinental Regency’s Al Thurraya tent this Ramadan. Traditional local flavours can be found throughout the buffet spread, while classic Ramadan beverages are served. Meanwhile, keep yourself entertained with traditional games and shisha. Golden Tulip Stalwart hotel, The Golden Tulip, is well known for its annual Ramadan tent and this year it’s undergone a transformation into a brand new and classy version, able to accommodate up to 500 people.
A range of traditional Arabian dishes, alongside international classics, are available for iftar and ghabga, while a variety of board games and various shisha flavours are on offer too.

Sofitel Thalassa Sea & Spa Layali Sofitel Have a magnifique Ramadan at Sofitel where they’re pitching up the popular Layali Sofitel tent once again, so you can enjoy your evenings with friends and family under the stars.
Traditionally decorated, in a luxurious fashion, with plush couches and eye-catching designs, the tent also features a sumptuous buffet spread for ghabga. The Gulf Hotel Khaimat Al Khaleej The Gulf Hotel is pulling out all the stops this year with its Khaimat Al Khaleej Ramadan tent. Guests can enjoy a traditional ghabga in the comfort of this Oriental-themed tent while listening to the tunes of the live oud performer and enjoying a traditional board game.
A buffet filled with Ramadan favourites is also on offer, with items such as shawarma, falafel and ouzi, as well as a wide selection of traditional desserts. Shisha is also available. Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Al Khayma Low key isn’t part of The Ritz-Carlton’s vocabularly so expect something truly spectacular this year at their Al Khayma Ramadan Tent. Decorated in a contemporary Arabian way, the tent plays host to an extensive buffet of authentic Middle Eastern specialties and live cooking stations featuring classics such as freshly baked manakish and fetir by chefs flown in specially from Lebanon.
Enjoy the atmosphere as a four-piece band and female singer entertains, and shisha is available, allowing you to relax at your table or in a private pergola with silver service. Open from 6pm.
