Devours the rustic, wholesome treats at new Saar café, Hopscotch
Garden-to-plate, neighbourhood-style café Hopscotch has opened its doors in Saar, with the aim of bringing the community “rustic eats”. It is the brainchild of local entrepreneur Dona Murad. “Basically, it’s a café serving rustic and hearty meals from all over the world,” she tells us.
Dishes such as Jamaican jerk chicken, Greek lamb burger and Belgian fries grace the menu. She’s also created a dish perfect for vegans and the health-conscious – the Buddha’s Bowl (pictured). It’s a medley of spiced chickpeas, avocado, cucumbers, quinoa, radish, baby spinach, kale and red pepper sauce, all drizzled with some fresh tahini to create a sweet, spicy dish that is well balanced in flavour and texture.
For the creation of this dish, and many others on the menu, Murad has been inspired by her travels. “I’m always on the hunt to try new, trending dishes and healthy options,” she explains. “I love food!”
And you’ll love her food, too, as it’s all freshly prepared, flavourful and wholesome. And, despite having only been open a few weeks, Hopscotch is already getting rave reviews across social media.
On top of all that, Murad has also soft-launched a small, cosy specialty coffee shop called Grind on the same premises. There are only four options of coffee, but they’re all made fresh, as the beans have been roasted on site. “There are no sugar syrups or any junk like that. Just yummy coffee for true coffee lovers.” We’ll definitely have a bowl-full of that. BD4 (Buddha’s Bowl). Hopscotch and Grind, Saar Avenues, Saar (17 691 242).
