I’ve never really been a big fan of fast food but when I heard about a new burger joint in Seef Mall that served only organic food, my curiousity got the better of me and off to Elevation Burger I trotted.

Looking up at the menu I started to feel a little tingle of excitement as I realised this was a burger bar with a difference. Along with the aptly named ‘elevation burger’, they also offer a cheese burger with six-month-old aged cheddar cheese, a vegi burger (no thankyou) and something they call the ‘vertigo burger’, named as you would imagine for the heights it can reach, giving the option of anything from three to 10 patties of beef for those customers lucky enough to be in possession of a dislocatable jaw.

Their selection of toppings and side orders, from balsamic mustard and caramelised onions to fresh-baked chocolate chip pecan cookies, made with organic butter and eggs, and malt shakes, made my decision making process very difficult indeed. I eventually settled on the elevation burger, which I opted to have wrapped in a lettuce leaf instead of bread (just because I could), and a side order of fancy fries. Ah those fancy fries! A generous helping of very tasty fries, smothered in ‘elevation sauce’, melted six-month-old aged cheddar and caramalised onions… Yum!

As I walked away with my culinary booty, the mouth-watering smells emitting from the bag made me wish I could magically transport myself back home in a flash so I didn’t have to wait another moment to tuck in.

Home at last and it was finally time to taste what was sure to be the best fast-food burger I had ever chomped my nashers into. I popped a loaded fancy fry in my mouth and a happy smile quickly spread across my face as the taste sensation exploded in my mouth like fireworks on the 4th of July. As for the burger, well sadly that’s where my happy bubble burst and I was reminded that a fast-food burger is a fast-food burger, is a fast-food burger. No matter how you pretty it up with all sorts of tantalising embellishments.
