Med Café

Aquatic haven with interesting décor and OK food
Discuss this article

Remember those signs at Sea World that told you banging on the side of the tank isn’t as pleasurable for the fish as it is for you? Well, at Med Café it’s pretty tough to avoid, considering there’s a tank built into the floor and happens to be the only place you can walk. The occupants seem happy enough, though, and why wouldn’t they? Med Café isn’t a restaurant displaying their mates as the main course; it is an aquatic haven filled with turquoise and sandy-coloured furniture, big cream brick walls you usually find on villas, and pictures of Mediterranean views.

Much like the depths of the ocean, there is quite a cold atmosphere created by the mirrors and metallic surfaces. Nevertheless, there’s plenty to warm you up again, from soup and calamari, to paninis and pizza. The Philly steak baguette is worth a shout any day of the week with its tenderloin filling, as is the fudge-fuelled tuxedo chocolate cake and Nutella crêpe.
