Motor sport fans are in for an action-packed weekend with the opening round of the 2012-13 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship from October 17 to 19 at the BIC, Sakhir. Racing will be held on the circuit’s world-class quarter-mile drag strip, which is a member of the US-based National Hot Rod Association (NHRA).
It is one of the most popular drag racing series in the region, attracting scores of drivers in the 12 competition categories. About 100 racers from all over the Gulf, competing in both cars and motorbikes, are expected to battle in the season’s inaugural event, which kicks off with an evening of Test and Tune on Wednesday October 17. Qualifying will be held the following day, followed by the big race day on Friday October 19.
Action on the strip will take place from 7pm each day and tickets are available at the gate. And championship races continue throughout the winter months with races every month through to the finale at the end of April.
