Rotary Club Charity Football Tournament The Rotary Club of Manama’s annual six-a-side charity football tournament makes a welcome return to its regular home this year and the Rugby Club squads will be among 40 men’s and women’s teams taking to the field in this year’s competition. The tournament has been the signature fund-raising event of the Rotary Club of Manama for a quarter of a century and in that time has helped several Bahraini charities and purchased critical medical supplies. Aside from the matches themselves, there will be plenty of other entertainment including a series of games and competitions for adults and children, food stations, prize draws and a live DJ. The event will get underway at 8am, with the prize presentations expected to take place at 2pm. All welcome. March 1, Bahrain Rugby Football Club. Call (17 534 002).
Gulf Top Six fixture - Bahrain -v- Jebel Ali Dragons Bahrain’s first XV will take on old rivals Jebel Ali Dragons, in a match that could go a long way towards deciding the fate of this year’s league title. Having been beaten in the away fixture in Dubai last month, the home side will have no shortage of motivation going into what is also their final competitive home fixture of the season. As the last home game of the season, this will be a chance for the first XV squad to show their appreciation to a home crowd, now safely regarded as the best in the Gulf, that has been instrumental in a number of big wins through the campaign and a full after-match party has been lined up to take place. Entry closed on March 1 but it’s still a really good event to go along and cheer on the runners and, unlike the marathon, the start time’s not prohibitive.
