With stunning terrain for hiking in summer and skiing in winter, plus all the cheese and chocolate you can eat, you shouldn’t miss a chance to visit Switzerland.

The landlocked European country is a sight to behold, with glorious mountain ranges, rolling hills and picturesque lakes.

Switzerland’s largest city, Zurich, is a great spot to begin your break. The city is home to a number of art galleries and museums, including the Swiss National Museum, housed in an architectural marvel built in 1898 in the form of French Renaissance city chateaux.

Fans of football shouldn’t miss a visit to the FIFA World Football Museum, either, which is home to a vast collection of memorabilia, more than 1,000 exhibitions and – the prize exhibit every fan wants to see – the original FIFA World Cup trophy.

Switzerland is also, of course, famous for its slopes. In winter head up to the snow-capped Alps and take a walk across the newly opened Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge in Randa, a record-breaking 494 metres long and 86 metres above ground. In summer enjoy a dip in the lake or a hike.

A great end to your Swiss sojourn is Lausanne, a scenic city that is fast becoming a major shopping destination, plus is home to the Olympic Museum, packed full of displays.

With pleasant summer temperatures, why not visit during the UAE heatwave?
