Price TBA. Noon-4pm (39 977 540).

Sofitel Bahrain: If you can face the drive to the south of the island then you’ll find yourself in the midst of an almighty party. Several signature celebrations will run at the same time. Foodies would do well to head straight for La Mer, where a staggering BD95 will buy you five course meal in one of the more romantic spots on the island. If you’re looking for something a little livelier the a gala buffet will give you access to Saraya, Fiamma and Wok restaurants as well as the DJ and Magic Grooves, band. The price is BD75 and includes access to the ‘Mega Party’ in the hotel’s Nakheel Ballroom. True party people, of course, will skip the food and pay the BD25 for direct access to the ball room. Dress code for all the parties is formal so be sure to dress up for the night.
Various prices, 7.30pm-late. (17 636 363).

Elite Group Hotels: The Elite Group is celebrating New Year across its properties with candlelit dinners at La Brasserie Elite Resort & Spa, La Cascada Crystal Hotel and Temptations at the Elite Grand. There is authentic live Arabic entertainment at the Al Noor tent at Elite Resort & Spa and inclusive packages ranging from BD25 at Shift 7 to BD40 at the Crystal Hotel ballroom for the evening’s entertainment.
BD25-40, including drinks 8pm-late. (17 313 388).

JJ’s: We have to applaud JJ’s. Not only is it regularly one of the busiest nightspots in Bahrain but the team behind the scenes know what we love: hard partying and good value. So the two for the price of one party offer is sure to be popular. In JJ’s Irish Restaurant UK band The Money will be playing their hits and upstairs in JJ’s Music Hall Ministry of Sound DJs will take control of the decks. All for a reasonable price of BD10.
BD10, 8pm-late. (39 329 083).

Kicks Beach Ball: Celebrate New Year’s Eve on the beach Diva Hotel beach. Kick it in your best grass skirt or board shorts and say Aloha to 2012. Tickets are BD20 for guys and BD10 for ladies with unlimited selected beverages. Enjoy the party and stay the night in the one of the beautiful Diva Hotel rooms for only BD40.
BD40, 8pm-late. (17 810 555).

Diplomat Radisson Blu: We love a party with a good theme, so there’s a decent chance you’ll spot Time Out at the Radisson’s Grand Ambassador suite come midnight on New Year’s Eve. The dress code is an intriguing Fire and Ice (white suits and dyed red hair?) and the hotel is promising inspirational décor for the evening. Not to mention a live musical performance by The Boxtones.
BD75, including drinks 8.30-late. (17 531 666).

The K Hotel: Welcome in the new year with a culinary combo at one of Bahrain’s newest hotels. Mo Kan, Klouds and the Champions Sports Lounge are joining forces at the K Hotel to supply you with unlimited food and drink. The diet starts in January so this is your chance to indulge one last time.
BD65 including drinks (BD30 with non-alcoholic beverages), 8pm-late. (17 360 000).

Downtown: The Intercontinental Regency’s flagship bar is promising a night of surprises to bring in 2012. Details are sketchy at the time of going to press but we’ve been told to expect live entertainment, a hip DJ and the chic shenanigans that Bahrain’s party people have come to expect from this fun nightspot. Bubbly will surely be flowing until late.
BD45 including premium drinks, 8pm-late. (17 227 777).

Golden Tulip Bahrain: The colour scheme may be a bit confused – a ‘Red Ball’ with a black tie dress code – but we have high hopes for this NYE party. The 3am finish and a guest DJ will take you a long way into 2012 and the lavish buffet will be a celebratory end to 2011.
BD42 including drinks, 8.30pm-3am. (17 523 515).

Kempinski Hotel: Bahrain loves a buffet so why not get a gang of mates together to honour buffets past, present and future at Saveur. Live entertainment will accompany the food.
BD55 including drinks (BD40 without), 7pm-1am. (17 171 000).

Muju Restaurant and Lounge: If you’d rather give the buffet a wide berth on New Year’s Eve then the Dragon Hotel is sure to be the danciest party on the island. Muju’s Ibiza reunion party brings three of the Spanish isle’s hottest DJs as well as a trumpeter and percussionist. The dance credentials of the incoming performers are enough to get serious clubbers frothing at the mouth. The party spills over to the Dragon Hotel poolside and Muju’s always impressive terraces.
BD 25 for men and BD15 for ladies, 8pm-late. (16 033 833).

Wrangler’s: Deep basslines and thumping beats are guaranteed on New Year’s Eve as DJ Poisin Ivy jets in for a one-off night behind the decks. Hip hop, RnB, reggae, crunk and dancehall are on the musical menu whenever one of Germany’s most decorated female DJs performs.
BD25 for men and BD10 for Ladies (including drinks), 8pm-late. (17 827 600).

Champs: Party-loving band The Electrolytes are flying in from England to perform the New Year’s Eve party at Champs. That means 60s classics and current chart hits will jostle for your attention at this cheep and surely cheerful night out. Well worth a look in for the relatively low price.
BD10, 8pm-late. (17 827 600).

Crowne Plaza Bahrain: Anybody who has ever been to a function at the Crowne Plaza will tell you that a formal dress code does not necessarily mean a night of quiet respectability. This New Year’s Eve ball is likely to be one of the more raucous spots on the island come midnight as the 1001 Arabian nights style party goes into full swing. A cocktail reception and buffet dinner kick things off before the live band and DJ, not to mention unlimited drink deal, takes the party to the next level.
BD70, 8pm-late. (17 531 122).

Ritz-Carlton Bahrain: A New Year’s Eve ball at the Ritz-Carlton just sounds swanky, doesn’t it. You’re not likely to be disappointed if you shell out the BD25 for a night inclusive of a midnight toast.
BD25, 9.30pm-2am. (17 580 000).

Movenpick Bahrain: The most intriguing New Year’s Eve party award has to go to the hotel promising a Moulin Rouge-style dance performance, magic shows, a live band and a DJ. Whether or not a single evening can accommodate all of the above as well as a gala buffet remains to be seen but with ticket prices starting at BD44 we certainly hope so,
BD44 including drinks and access to Flamingo Bar, BD56 f including drinks for access to Silks restaurant, BD48 including drinks for access to the lobby party zone, 8.30pm-late. (17 460 000).
