Dublin, Ireland’s improv saxophonist Aneta Moran is performing live at Meisei this Thursday. The resident musician from the Morgan Bar Hotel has made a huge impact on the Irish house music scene since she arrived from Germany several years ago. As well as working with plenty of notable DJs, Aneta has also played with big bands, jazz duos, combos and sax quartets. Catch her at Meisei from 9.30pm to 1am. Entrance is free.

Think Pink Bahrain charity golf day

The Royal Golf Club is hosting their tenth annual Think Pink Bahrain Golf Day to support the local breast cancer awareness charity. Ladies can compete in the 18-hole Texas Scramble competition from 8.30am. While men are invited to play a nine-hole tournament from 6pm.

Anna Karenina

Artistic director Boris Eifman is leading the acclaimed Eifman Ballet of St Petersburg in a masterful performance and adaptation of Anna Karenina, one of Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy’s best known works. The story is set in 19th century Russia and follows Anna Karenina, a married socialite, as she has an affair with the affluent Count Vronsky. Tickets are available from Uplay at Seef Mall or Virgin Bahrain City Centre, and the performance takes place at the Bahrain National Theatre.

The 8thaquathlon

Passionate about swimming and running? Then compete on your own, or with a partner, at The Ritz-Carlton’s 8thAquathlon race on Friday 9. It takes you through a one kilometre swim and six kilometre run around the lagoon. Enter by Thursday 8 for BD12 (members), BD6 (members’ kids) or BD15 net (non-members). These prices include T-shirts, a healthy buffet, refreshments and prizes. It starts at 8am.

TribFest reloaded

Following a successful debut in May, TribFest is back at the Bahrain Rugby Football Club more organised than ever. There’s a main event stage a host of tribute artists from the UK, as well as ‘The I Love Local Stage’ hosting Bahrain-based music talent, and finally the after party stage with four great tribute acts, again from the UK. Tickets cost BD15 (adults) or BD7 (children) and the event runs from 10am to 10pm. It’s BD5 (18 and over) for the after party.

LM pink sparkling brunch

For the first three Fridays of this breast cancer awareness month, the revamped LM sparkling brunch at Baharat in Le Meridien Bahrain City Centre is going for the Think Pink theme. It’s on from 12.30pm to 4pm and costs BD16++ with soft drinks and BD24++ with house beverages. Twenty percent of your bill will be donated to the local breast cancer awareness society.

A culinary journey

The Crowne Plaza is featuring a host of special menus across its outlets from the brand’s culinary ambassadors. This weekend is your last chance to experience Chef Sam Leong’s Singaporean-Chinese creations at La Mosaique, as they’re available until the 11th. After that, Japanese Chef Takagi Kazuo’s dishes take over the Waves kitchen from October 12-25. Finally, to round up this culinary journey, Chef Dean Brettschneider has concocted taste pastries, which are featured at Cappuccinos Café from October 26 until November 1.

Tacos fiesta

The award-winning Latin American restaurant Margarita Mexicana, at The Gulf Hotel Bahrain, is bringing back its tacos fiesta so you can enjoy a selection of four tacos with a Mexican mixed beverage for BD8.5++. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Cris and Toni entertain with their saxophone and smooth vocals.
