Looking for a quirky, beautiful gift to give this Eid, or to take back home for a loved one this summer? Then you shoulad certainly check out the brand-new flagship store by Annada.
Founded by +Nada and Noor Alawi over four years ago, Annada primarily offers collections of stunning silk scarves, which fuse fashion with art, as they depict the colourful and elegant works of carefully chosen local artists.
With the opening of this chic new store in Seef Mall, the pair have also launched a new collection of scarves, in varying sizes, called Volume R, using the distinctive works of H.E Sheikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
“Art has the power to invoke emotions in people, and fashion does the same,” the sisters told us in a previous interview with Time Out Bahrain. “Scarves are a classic accessory, having stood the test of trend and time, and the art is timeless.” These scarves are always hand-hemmed with materials that are luxurious in look and feel, and the artist techniques range from calligraphy to impressionism, abstract to contemporary.
After a successful start to the year, when Annada received the Bahraini Female Entrepreneur Honour Seal from Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, this store marks a new era for the homegrown brand, which has also seen the introduction of new products.
While the scarves remain the focus, an apparel line has been added, and others will follow, including notebooks, bookmarks and postcards, featuring signature artistic accents.
The Annada woman is one that appreciates beauty – the gallery-goers, art collectors, fashionistas and poets. Ultimately, they say, “they look to add a soul to their look.”
