It’s positively sweltering outside. Can we please go inside?
That’s exactly where we’re taking you (kind of). We’re headed to the Middle East’s first-ever temperate-controlled, indoor-outdoor waterpark.
Excellent. I love having a splash around, but how much of it is outside? I’m avoiding the sun.
The whole place is a whopping 15,000-square metres and only 30 percent of it is outdoors so, don’t worry, you’re well protected.
Okay, now we’ve got that sorted, tell me what’s there.
Wahooo! is absolutely jam-packed with rides, slides and other attractions suitable for all ages. Little ones can explore a multi-level fortress and splash about in the toddler pool, while the older kids (and you big kids) can battle the current in the Wave Pool or lounge around in the Lazy River.
Sounds decent, but I’m more of a thrill-seeker to be honest.
Well, the rides are perfect for you then. Ones like the Mat Racer, Sidewinder, Flow Rider and Black Hole. Oh, and there’s the Wave Pro Academy, where you can learn to surf.
I’m ready to dive in. But I forgot my swimmers.
No problem, Wahooo! also has its own swimwear line at the Wave Pro Shop. For ladies there are one-piece swimsuits and two-piece burqinis in black and red for conservative swimmers. For men there are board shorts and kids can find a comfortable one-piece. You’ll also find waterproof T-shirts and branded towels.
Sorted. So what if I get bored of swimming?
No problem. It happens to be located in one of Bahrain’s most popular shopping malls. In there you’ll find plenty of high-street and high-end stores, a 20-screen cinema, indoor entertainment centre Magic Planet, a bowling alley and loads of restaurants in case you get peckish.
I am hungry actually. Which restaurants are there?
Shocking. Familiar favourites such as Wagamama, Shake Shack, Asha’s, Vapiano, Wafi Gourmet, The Butcher Shop & Grill, PF Chang’s, Paul Café, Kosebasi. Need we go on?
No, no. I get the picture.
Finally. Now, let’s slide!
Only in Wahooo! Waterpark
Wahooo! Surf school
It’s said to be the Middle East’s first surf school, open to all enthusiasts, from first-timers to the more advanced among you. Book yourself in for a private or group surf session – they’re available every Friday and Saturday morning with the professional trainers. And, there are now Wednesday morning lessons, too.
It costs BD15 per class. www.theplaymania.com/wahooo.
