Dive Bahrain to open this weekend

The world's largest underwater theme park is finally here

Dive Bahrain to open this weekend

We’ve been keeping you up-to-date on all the latest news on Dive Bahrain over the past few weeks – and now the world’s largest underwater theme park is set to open to the public this Saturday (September 7).

The official opening ceremony on Friday will see HE Zayed R. Al Zayani, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, HE Dr Mohammed Mubarak Bin Daina, the Chief Executive of the Supreme Council for Environment and a number of experts will take part in an inaugural dive.

The group are set to visit the 70 m Boeing 747 which was submerged in the waters north of Bahrain back in June.

If you’re keen to be the first to explore the plane, which had its fuel and wiring systems removed as well as any potential pollutants before being submerged, you can sign up for a dive experience with one of the centres on the official Dive Bahrain website now.

Divers from each of the centres have already visited the park to ensure every trip is as safe and enjoyable as possible.

At the moment, only the first attraction of the 100,000 sq m park is ready to visit, but officials plan to add more structures including a replica of a traditional Bahraini pearl merchant’s house in the future.

It is hoped that the buildings and objects will provide a haven for coral reef growth and help build a habitat for more marine life.
