There’s nothing better than lying about on one of Bahrain’s public beaches.
Whether you’re a couple, on your own, or with your family, it’s always good fun, and it’s usually completely free.
But all that could be about to change for visitors to Budaiya beach, because the Northern Municipal Council is considering adding an entrance fee.
The proposal would see visitors charged 200 fils to enter the beach in a bid to raise money for new public facilities.
The Finance and Legal Committee have approved the idea and it will go to a vote on Monday.
The entry fee was proposed because the beach lacks the facilities to accommodate the thousands of visitors it gets.
It is also hoped the money will be able to fund security cameras and guards to stop vandalism in the area.
The news comes after Muharraq Municipal Council proposed introducing an entrance fee Bahrain’s public parks.
