Six of the best bars in Bahrain for live music

Bahrain’s music scene is undoubtedly thriving, from rock festivals and concerts nights and orchestras.

All the best bars now have resident DJs or bands, and it can be difficult to work out where to go.

To help you out, we’ve come up with a guide to the best bars with live music. Read on for our top picks.

Calexico
Block 338 is a cultural hub in Manama, and Calexico Bahrain is smack bang in the centre of it. The bar area upstairs regularly hosts artists such as Bluesaders, but it also throws special themed nights, such as the hip-hop BeatRoots session in September. There are also special jam sessions on Sundays, but you’ll need to check Calexico’s Facebook page as they’re not weekly.
Open daily noon-2am. Calexico, Adilya (1766 6644).

CODA Jazz Lounge
Clue’s in the name with this one – expect jazz, jazz, and more jazz at this bar. The resident band Tarsha Thomas and The JazzKatz perform most nights but there are also special events with artists from around the world throughout the year.
Open daily 6pm-2am. Atiram Premier Hotel, Juffair (3434 2828).

Diggers
If rock music’s more up your street, Diggers in central Manama has you covered. The resident band Rock United keep folks entertained during the Friday brunch, and on Sundays there’s a rock jam night.
Open daily noon-2am. Delmon International Hotel, Manama Centre (3694 3946).

Downtown Bar
Downtown Bar’s resident band DD and the Groove play soul and funk music, but there are plenty of other artists who perform at this spot. On Sundays, there is a special jam night where you can hit the stage with DD and the Groove, and every singer will get a free house beverage. One singer will be crowned the best every Sunday and win a brunch voucher for two as well.
Open daily 4pm-2am. InterContinental Regency, Manama Centre (1722 7777).

Republiq Lounge
If you head down to Republiq Lounge, you won’t just hear live music – you’ll also be treated to performances by dancers. There are all sorts of artists playing this spot, and on Tuesdays it’s open mic night for all ladies.
Open daily 5pm-2am. Park Regis Lotus Hotel, Juffair (3563 3050).

JJ’s Irish Restaurant
If you’re after karaoke in Bahrain, JJ’s Irish Restaurant has exactly what you need. Every Monday is Karaoke night, and in the lead up to Christmas it hosts a competition where the winner will get BHD700. The bar also has a resident band – Livewire – and hosts special events too.
Open daily 11.30am-2am. Gudaibiya (3384 3005).
