Mai Tai

Swanky bar hugely popular with the cool kids

Time Out Says

Popularity speaks volumes in Bahrain, and judging by the number of patrons who tenaciously hoard the seats in Mai Thai as if they were made of gold, this swanky brainchild of Trader Vic’s must be pretty good. The Ritz Carlton is famed for drawing celebrity visitors to Bahrain, and Mai Thai is the first place to look for the visiting Formula One teams when the Grand Prix rolls into town.

You will need to be a member to get into this exclusive joint, and while couples and ‘civilised’ groups may be granted entry while they apply for membership, if you are unlucky enough to not meet the strict criteria of the manager in charge, you’ll need to wait for your application to be processed before you can mix it up with Bahrain’s elite. Your best bet is to put on your finest garb, take your business card and passport photo, and try to get your membership approved there and then, so you don’t have to traipse out with your tail between your legs.
