Time Out Says
The décor’s cosy, subdued lighting makes for an intimate atmosphere with sectional areas so, although Camelot can hold a reasonable number of people, it never feels as if you’re stuck in a crowd.
There’s a range of music throughout the week and we’re particularly partial to the acoustic nights with James and Jo from JJ’s house band The Noise who play on Monday evenings, we’ll miss the old piano player who’s no longer there but they’ve got a new female singer in who’s getting good reviews.
The food is always good whether you go for bar snacks or the full-on menu but those same section areas that make for intimacy can also trap smoke so, if you’re a non-smoker and thinking of eating in the bar area, you might want to head into the more open section.
We’ve already mentioned the grape tasting nights and these are great fun with a fixed price, lots of different options to choose from and bar staff who know what they’re talking about.
And food-wise we can usually be found there on a Monday when it’s all you can eat moules et frites or mussels and fries if you prefer.
