Art at Al Aali
This month sees Al Aali Shopping Complex in Seef getting in on the art scene to host talent from across the country under one roof.
Established artists and those who are just starting out have been invited to showcase their talent as well as having the opportunity to sell their work in various disciplines including paints, sculpture, fashion design, music, photography, calligraphy and pottery.
Working on the theme ‘Art Transcends Barriers’ the Al Aali Art Fest aims to bring together the different cultures on the island, transforming the shopping complex into a canvas to create a living gallery.
There will also be workshops in a range of different disciplines as well as an open photography competition.
The festival will feature contributions by well-known artists such as Abbas Al Mousawi, Abdul Rasool Alghayb, Mariam Khalil Janahi, Ella Prakash in fine arts, Aziz Qasim, Mahmood Al-Mulla in calligraphy, Shukri A Rasool, Nahid Sultana and Rasha Yousif in photography with lots of other talented individuals joining in.
Bahrain Arts Society will also showcase some of its leading members in various categories and work will be on show from the talented students of NYIT.
There will also be giant canvases produced by schools across the country centred around women and/or Bahrain in general to mark International Women’s Day on March 8.
And the event will also raise cash for good causes with 20 per cent of proceeds from the art sales going to charities across the country.

Mosaic workshop
Cafe Ceramics is celebrating its second year anniversary with a workshop by Faiza Saeed who trained with the legendary British mosaic artist Emma Biggs.
The beginners’ class starts with learning to use the direct method, techniques, how to use the tools, cutting, gluing and grouting.
The course begins with learning to use the tools effectively. Materials, adhesives are discussed and students learn where to use them.
