Bahrain considering launching drive-in cinemas

Bahrain is considering launching drive-in cinemas as a safe way to watch new movies during the coronavirus pandemic.

Restrictions led to the closure of cinemas back in March, and they are yet to reopen.

But Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed Alzayani has said drive-in cinemas could be on the cards, reports Gulf Daily News.

Other GCC countries including the UAE are set to launch drive-in cinemas, with plans to open in Dubai once overnight sterilisation campaigns are complete.

Restriction easing in Bahrain has already seen the reopening of retail shops from May 7.

Restaurants and cafes, however, remain delivery and takeaway only.
