Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again
TIME OUT SAYS
Could they name the sequel anything else? The sensational musical that had people in cinemas around the world dancing and singing along to Abba songs returns for a second outing set ten years after their first Greek tragedy (though that’s a Bee Gees song). The whole cast are making a comeback for this second film, and we’ll find out more about their lives before the first movie. Told through flashbacks, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) learns about her mother’s (Meryl Streep) past on the island where she runs her holiday home. While we may not get to see much of the veteran cast that made the first film so charming, we do get an energised, and definitely more in-tune, cast dance and sing to more classic hits from everyone’s favourite Swedish pop band made up of two couples.
And maybe, just maybe, if we wish hard enough, Pierce Brosnan won’t have to sing again in this one.
The bottom line
A fun follow-up that will have us singing along.
