Zombieland: Double Tap

Zombieland: Double Tap

Cards on the table, we’d watch almost anything that starred Woody Harrelson.

Because of his magnificent performances in Natural Born Killers, True Detective and Kingpin, we’ve been big fans for a while.

When Zombieland was released in 2009 it might have succeeded Edgar Wright’s cult zom-com Shaun Of The Dead but it still pre-dated the rebirth of zombie fandom that really took hold when The Walking Dead hit our screens in 2010.

The comical take on horror hit a lot of the right notes with an original script, great casting with Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone and a cameo to end all cameos from Bill Murray (another of our all-time heroes).

Why, in the age of sequels, prequels, reboots and spin-offs, it has taken a decade for Zombieland: Double Tap to go into production is beyond us but we sure are happy to get another look into the farcical world portrayed in the original. If you didn’t see it, imagine all the gore of a classic horror flick with comic violence, dry humour and a set of rules you must follow to survive the zombie apocalypse. What’s rule number two? Double Tap, make sure the zombie is put-down before turning your back, and that throwback title will have fans excited for the follow-up.

Set ten years into the future, the four main characters, Tallahassee, Little Rock, Columbus and Wichita (real names aren’t allowed, you’ll catch on) are busy surviving in America’s heartland. All is well among the four (as well as it can be when the undead walk among us) until they happen upon more survivors out in the wilderness also trying to find their way through the bleak new world.

When Little Rock decides to go off on an adventure with a new friend, the old group decide to go and get her back and that’s when things get complicated.

Can the survivors all get along? Will they survive the zombie hordes? We can’t wait to see what crazy action sequences await and we’re definitely up for another round of comedic horror. It’s going to be a blast.

A sequel a decade in the making

It’s going to be a dose of gory fun
