Family-friendly archaeology walk happening in Bahrain this month

It should come as no surprise to anyone even vaguely familiar with the history of Bahrain that the Kingdom is covered in archaeological sites.

From the Dilmun burial mounds to the Bu Maher Fort, each one holds fascinating secrets we’re still only scratching the surface of.

If you’ve always wanted to learn more, or you want to introduce your little ones to these incredible sites, we’ve got the perfect event for you.

Later this month, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) is hosting an 8 km walkathon covering some of the archaeological sites north of Bahrain.

Kicking off at the Bahrain Fort Site Museum on Saturday February 29, you’ll travel to the Hilla Islamic site, the Al Hajer and Shakhoura burial mounds, as well as the site of the Barbar Temple.

BACA will provide transportation as well as light meals along the way.

The day will kick off bright and early at 7.30am, and you can register here.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents.
